Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is the sequel to Owlcat's excellent Pathfinder: Kingmaker and we knew it was coming to console, but now we know when: The ambitious CRPG is launching on PS4 on 29 September and will be known as Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous Enhanced Edition.
A traditional party-based CRPG in the tradition of Baldur's Gate and Pillars of Eternity, Wrath of the Righteous, like Kingmaker before it, is based upon the Pathfinder pen-and-paper roleplaying system.
Incredibly deep, and arguably a little too complex, this is a marked difference compared to staples of the genre like the Baldur's Gate series of games (which are based on various versions of the Dungeons & Dragons ruleset), and is worth keeping in mind.
Wrath of the Righteous is set against the backdrop of a demonic invasion, so in addition to looking after the needs of your own party, you will be tasked with leading a crusade against the hellspawn, adding a strategic meta-game that is engaging in its own right.
You can check out some gameplay from an older trailer below to get the hype flowing:

Best news I’ve heard all week! Had my issues with Kingmaker, but enjoyed it nonetheless. This seems like a stellar sequel, taking lots of feedback into consideration, and PC reviews have been phenomenal. Can’t wait to try out all the mythic paths. With Owlcat working on a Warhammer CRPG, they’re slowly becoming one of my favourite RPG devs.
Fantastic news. I forgot this was coming out this year. I enjoyed Kingmaker except for the forced return to certain locations for timed events. If missed pretty much game over. Hopefully Wraith doesn't have that issue. The combat is quite close to paper D&D. Day one purchase for me.
Excellent Pathfinder may be but I couldn't get it to fully install...numerous issues that the devs are aware of but are not bothering to fix (not even updating blog anymore)...only paid 6 pounds for it but that's quite expensive for a shiny coaster!
What is a crpg? 🤷🏻♂️
@Bagwag82 CRPG is a term used to describe "Computer RPGs", it is mainly used for isometric rpgs made to look like the old Infinity engine RPGS (Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Torment).
This is an excelent game and has an epic OST. Please check the Mythic Power track, played by the Baltic Symphony Orchestra and you'll see what I mean. Absolute banger.
@Bagwag82 an outdated term if anything. Computer RPG that sometimes can actually be found on consoles and thus make it unnecessary. I initially thought it meant chinese rpg actually.
Picked up and started playing Pathfinder again since reading this news in anticipation. I forgot what an awesome game it is, on review looks like an insanely hard Platinum. Excited for the new one on Consoles! All the reviews say its really good
